2. What data we collect

When you use BillSight we collect the following information:

• Your name and business name
• Your email address
• Your business sector and approximate size
• The utility bill(s) you upload, which may contain your account number, address, meter serial number, and consumption data
• Payment information (processed by Stripe — we do not store card details)

3. Why we collect it and our lawful basis

We collect and process your data to deliver the service you have paid for — specifically, to analyse your utility bill and send you a report. Our lawful basis under UK GDPR is contract performance: we need your data to fulfil the service you've requested.

We do not use your data for marketing unless you have separately given us permission to do so.

4. Who we share your data with

We use the following third-party services to deliver BillSight:

• Tally — our form provider, used to collect your submission and bill upload
• Stripe — our payment processor
• Anthropic (Claude API) — used to assist with bill analysis. Your bill data is submitted to Anthropic's API for processing. Anthropic's data processing terms apply. We do not share your name or contact details with Anthropic — only the bill document itself
• Google Workspace — used to send and receive email

We do not sell your data, share it with energy suppliers, brokers, or any commercial third party.

5. How long we keep your data

• Uploaded bills: deleted within 30 days of your report being delivered
• Email records: retained for up to 12 months for customer service purposes
• Payment records: retained for 7 years as required by HMRC

6. Your rights under UK GDPR

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Ask us to delete your data (where we are not legally required to retain it)
• Object to processing or ask us to restrict it
• Complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk

7. Security

All data is encrypted in transit using TLS. Uploaded documents are stored in access-controlled cloud storage. We limit access to your data to only those involved in delivering your report.

8. Cookies

Our website uses only essential cookies required for it to function. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies and do not require a cookie consent banner.
